I am what is called a 'non-traditional' student. That basically means, I am older than the average student...a lot older. Old enough to be their parents older. As a matter of fact, I discovered last semester in my Introduction to Women's Studies class, I'm even older than my classmates parents. I had to call my girlfriends after class and ask them when did we get this old!
Anyway, I'm currently in summer school and taking two classes. One of my instructors, Mrs. Richie told us on our first day of class that we would have to make a professional website. YIKES! I was not prepared for that. Why did I need a website? I used to have one but that was because I was a spoken word artist and I would perform at special events. I was no longer performing since I had become a 'non-traditional' student so I shut my website down. What did I have to say to anyone? What was this website going to be about? Wait...now why did I need a website again? All of these questions popped into my mind as Mrs. Richie was telling us to start building a website. I went with the first idea that jumped into my 'non-traditional' brain.
Live to Inspire was born! Personally, I wanted a place that I could go to for reading happy articles, viewing happy videos and seeing happy photos. I wanted a place that made me want to get up, get out and get something! I needed to be inspired on a daily basis or if I could not be inspired I wanted to inspire others. I do this with my own circle of friends, you know. I'm pretty good at it, I must say.
I needed to get others involved if this was really going to fly like I was thinking it could. I went on Facebook and emailed all of my friends and asked everyone to ask everyone they knew and so on and so on to send me letters, quotes or whatever they wanted to tell me inspired them. The response was fabulous. Not only did I find out what inspired others but it gave me a chance to see people whom I have known for quite some time in a different light. Remember, people do not always want to share their inner most thoughts and feelings and through the words that some wrote to me, that is just what they did. You can see what inspires others in the Inspired by You section here on the website. (They will change periodically since I could not get them all on here)
So what started out as a class project took a big turn suddenly and is becoming a lifestyle. I thank YOU for participating. I thank YOU for sharing. I thank YOU for passing this along to a friend who will pass this along to a friend. I thank YOU for inspiring me. Keep it up. It feels good, doesn't it?
If you are wanting to share what inspires YOU, please feel free to hit me up in the contact section of this website or directly at KarynJJohnson@yahoo.com. (Yep, there are 2 J's in my email)
Thank you again and remember, Live to Inspire!
Karyn
